How to remove duplicate Chrome tabs safely
Review repeated URLs, check each page for unsaved work and select the copies you want to close. A duplicate address is a clue, not proof that closing the tab is safe.
Why the same URL can still matter twice
Two tabs can share an address while containing different form inputs, login states or work in progress. Tabosmart checks repeated full URLs. It does not read the page contents, so it cannot tell you whether unsaved work differs between copies.
A review you can actually trust
Open a repeat-page suggestion and inspect the tabs it lists. Visit any page whose state you need to check, choose the copies to close and confirm the action. Tabosmart revalidates selected tabs before applying a change, so a suggestion cannot silently act on an old assumption after tabs have changed.
Some tabs deserve to stay put
Pinned, audio-playing and explicitly protected tabs are excluded from suggestions while those safeguards apply. If a page is important to keep open, protection gives you an explicit way to communicate that choice. The extension is designed to suggest a manageable review, not chase the smallest possible tab count.
What Recovery gives you
For supported tab-closing actions, Tabosmart keeps recoverable URLs locally. Reopening a URL loads that website again. It cannot recreate unsaved forms, text, exact page state or authentication. Review those things before closing a tab. Recovery is useful reassurance, but it is not a backup of the page.
Help improve duplicate review
If a suggestion is confusing, report the sequence that led to it, your Chrome version and what you expected. Use made-up or redacted addresses rather than sharing personal browsing details. If a page should have been protected, explain the visible state that made it important.
